State Of Mind [NZ] Friday 16 July @ Phoenix Bar

2 July 2010 | No Comments »

Faster than light New Zealand uber producers State of Mind are back and swinging through Sydney this coming July. Last year Stu SOM sent the dancefloor into a frenzy, so this year we thought we should bring Pat SOM over to show us what tricks he has up his sleeves. This is the first time that Pat SOM has played in Sydney, so be sure to come down and show him why Stu SOM loves coming back to Sydney. Initially signed to Total Science’s CIA label in 2005, the State of Mind discography has rapidly expanded to include labels such as, Teebee’s Subtitles Records, Friction’s Shogun with the massive Back to the Jungle EP, Futurebounds Viper label, Doc Scotts 31 Records, Bad Company, Obsessions & BSE Recordings. In 2007 the lads decided to launch their own record label, SOM MUSIC. Representative of their own unique sound, the label has grown into a force within DnB. Recording artists include Black Sun Empire, Chris.Su, Axiom, Spinline, SOM, Sigma, Mindscape, Dose, NC17, Bulletproof. 2009 State Of Mind released their second album FASTER THAN LIGHT to both critical and popular acclaim.

No Frills Presents Sydney Drum & Bass

No Frills and Locus are proud to present Force Majeure an All Crews Sydney Drum and Bass Event @ Phoenix Bar 21st May 2010. This is the first time in over 4 years that all the Sydney Drum n Bass crews have gotten under the one roof to get down to some serious drum & bass bizness!

The night promises to be a superb collection of music from the entire spectrum of drum and bass so you’ll hear styles ranging from Liquid DnB, Minimal Dnb, Neuro DnB and Heavy DnB as each crews DJs showcase their talent and skills behind the decks. Sound on the night is being looked after by the one like Hijack so you know its quality all the way.

One thing you not have known is that the Phoenix Bar has had a new lick of paint and looks the goods! It still has its underground dark vibe but some of the new elements like artwork and mirrors certainly brings it up a notch or two.

There will be giveaways and Christmas treats for all and most importantly the night will be powered by the Hijack Sound System. Chook started dj-ing in1995.Being into hip hop at the time, he mainly focused on the development of his scratching techniques. He now preferably plays Tech-step and Neurofunk still including his scratching skills into his sets.

Releasing his own material, under the name of Full Force or Chook, which gained support by major Dj’s in the scene (Cause4Concern, Noisia, BSE, Phace, Misanthrop, Mayhem…) as well as promoting artists such as Phace, Optiv (Cause4Concern), Skynet, Mayhem, N Phect & Dizplay, State of Mind, Sunchase, Deepulse & Xplorer, N Phonix,Dose, Misha, Complex… Signing with legendary label Shadow Law Recordings with his acclaimed track ‘Descend’. and working in closely with Phace & Misanthrop and their label Neosignal, Chook looks set for a very bright future. This will be his first time to Australia and with only two shows here, this is a rare opportunity for you to catch this rising star. The night is going to be truly EPIC. Don’t Miss this!
